How To Use Chia Seeds

Good things come in small packages and chia seeds are no exception. There’s a reason why Aztec warriors consumed an extreme amount; they needed to keep their strength up and energy levels high. Chia seeds contain copious amounts of fibre, omega-3, calcium, protein and antioxidants, making them a real superfood.

These marvellous little seeds are also very versatile. Sweet or savoury, anytime of the day, they will arm you with nutrients. Let’s focus on the most important meal of the day, breakfast. Whatever you fancy to get your brain and stomach active, chia seeds can join the party! Here are some of our favourite breakfast inspirations:

From a manic Monday to a Friday feeling.

Weekdays can be tough. They’re busy, stressful and time-consuming but chia up because these seeds are an effective solution!

  • Chia seed breakfast pot - An EatFirst bestseller consisting of chia seeds soaked in coconut milk, topped with apple and blackberry compote and coconut flakes.

  • Banana and blueberry smoothie - Sweet and packed full of vitamins! Blend bananas, blueberries, almond milk and chia seeds together.

  • Natural yogurt - Top Greek yogurt with some fresh passion fruit, kiwi and chia seeds.

  • Blueberry and chia muffins - Nothing beats hot-from-the-oven blueberry muffins, top them with a sprinkling of icing sugar and chia seeds.

Wonderful weekends.

After that long week or spontaneous night out, you’re going to need substantial food that tastes delicious during the weekend. Chia seeds just add a special something to these dishes.

  • Spanish omelette - Chorizo, fried potatoes, onions, peppers and chia seeds in an omelette - perfect Saturday morning starter.

  • Baked beans on toast - Make the beans how you like them, whether that be Heinz or homemade. Dish the beans onto two buttered slices of wholegrain or seeded toast and sprinkle with chia seeds.

Chia seeds are suitable for all diets including vegetarian, vegan, paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, the list goes on! If the chia seed pot sounds like your kind of breakfast, you can find it on the EatFirst app.
