Beat Those 'Morning Blues'

Some of us wake up feeling rejuvenated and ready for the day… What about the rest of us? Feeling lethargic and exhausted is not a productive way start to the day.

We understand that at times even the thought of leaving your warm, cosy bed causes those morning blues to wash over you. So we gathered together some facts, tips and personal experiences together, to create a worthy and effective morning routine that will get you excited for the day!

Waking up

  • Sleep Cycle: There are genius apps out there that monitor and analyse your sleep cycle, then wakes you up in your lightest stage. This means no more snoozing, you’ll feel wide awake!

  • Hydrate: Drink more water. Everyone wakes up dehydrated so it’ll feel good to get some cool, refreshing water into your body.

  • If life gives you lemons: Make a hot water with a slice of lemon! Super good for your digestion and is a much healthier alternative to a builder’s tea.

  • Read up: There are various apps for your phone or tablet that make the news very accessible to read.

Stretch it out

  • Yoga: There are many excuses people use not to practice yoga, such as, ‘it takes too long’, and ‘I can’t afford classes’. None of these apply to this tip. Take 10 minutes to do some morning stretches or to twist and align your body, it calms your mind and energizes you for the day.

  • Keep on running: If you find yourself waking up a little earlier than you need to be, why not go for a quick jog? Breathe in that fresh, morning air and get your heart pumping. It’ll certainly wake up your senses!

Shower Time

  • Turn up those tunes: Listen to your favourite tunes in the shower. It’s proven that if you sing in the shower, you will feel happier for the rest of your day!

  • Feelin’ Fruity: Use great smelling shower gel (if you’re not allergic). They get your nose buds tingling in the early morning.

Most important meal of the day

  • Breakfast: There is an unlimited amount of recipes for healthy, filling breakfasts out there! Have a browse and do some research, and experiment with which breakfast is best for you.

  • Freshly Squeezed: Fresh juice in the morning is one of the best wake ups and gives you a healthy amount of vitamins to get you started right and plus, they’re super tasty!

Everyone is unique and so some of the items in our list may not appeal to you, that’s okay! You don’t have to use them all, these tips are here just to give you inspiration for a better, healthier, more beneficial morning that will get your day started the right way.
