An Espresso Martini in 5 Steps

This cocktail is a classic and an after dinner coffee with a twist! No need to breathe fire, light sparklers or attempt to juggle glass bottles. (Feel free to but do it at your own risk!) Here is your checklist:

  • Cocktail shaker, 50ml shot measure, martini glass, strainer

  • Ice, shot of espresso, Absolut vanilla vodka, Kahlua, Creme de Cacao, Gomme (sugar syrup)

  1. Fill your martini glass with ice and water so that it chills nicely.

  2. Add into the shaker 35ml Absolut vanilla vodka, 1 shot of espresso, 10ml Creme de Cacao, 25ml Kahlua and a glug of gomme. Fill the rest of the shaker with ice.  

  3. Put the lid on and shake like crazy for 30 seconds or so.

  4. Empty out the ice and water from your glass and strain the shaker contents into the glass. You should see a dark brown liquid with a layer of foam on the top, if there’s no foam, it means you didn’t shake crazily enough!

  5. Garnish with 3 coffee beans, failing that a sprinkling of cacao powder.
