Meet Fanny, our new chef from France! She’ll be joining head chef, Benn Hodges, and his kitchen team to provide culinary expertise for our new weekend deliveries. Though soon she’ll be developing her own delicious recipes for the EatFirst menu.
Fanny grew up in picturesque Bordeaux, with her parents and four siblings. Her mother was constantly cooking and her father was a chef, meaning that colourful produce, beautiful cheeses, meats and freshly baked bread are part of her DNA. Fanny explains, “when I was young and growing up food wasn’t just a passion of mine, but a lifestyle. I loved baking cakes and tarts for my family, I also made jams with fruit after picking expeditions. My favourite childhood meal is roasted chicken, the smell still evokes fond memories. On sunday mornings I can remember my sisters and I used to ride down to the food market to pick up ingredients for my mother - then we’d race each other home.”
Her cooking talents didn’t go unnoticed, she worked at Alain Ducasse’s Michelin-starred Benoit Bistros in Paris and in New York for three years. Fanny moved to London to experience a new city, meet new people and to experience new ways of making incredible food. She tells us what she hopes to bring to the menu, “I love cooking with chicken, salmon and vegetables. Whether it’s poaching, roasting or frying - trying new techniques and combinations is fun for me. My aim is to add more healthy options to EatFirst, with unusual ingredients that elevate dishes and create sensational flavour profiles.” We’re excited already. Bienvenue to EatFirst, Fanny!
