Wine lovers can now match their EatFirst meal with the perfect wine, thanks to our new sommelier Miranda at Bottle Apostle Wines. Bottle Apostle is an award winning London-based wine shop, with beautiful stores and a focus on supplying the best wines from small exclusive vineyards. We felt there was a perfect synergy between us because our chefs are always looking to work with small producers to get the very best ingredients.
We spent a delightful afternoon pairing wines with our favourite EatFirst meals and we’re very pleased with the results. Here is a little overview of the new wines available for delivery with meals exclusively on EatFirst:
Whites - We wanted to give you something classic, exotic and celebratory with our choice of whites. The long legs on our Lavradores De Feitoria Branco from Portugal go perfectly with richer meat dishes like grilled baby chicken and our Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is perfectly paired with our classic tomato salads. And because we love a celebration we chose an incredible Italian prosecco from one of the oldest wine estates in Treviso.
Lavradores De Feitoria Branco (75cl): Quite unique, the Douro region is ordinarily famous for its robust reds and Ports. But this dry, crisp white is a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, with its tropical fruit notes and refreshing taste 12.5% - 2014.
Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie (37.5cl): A mouth-watering example of a modern Muscadet which will delight connoisseurs. This dry white is fruit forward and pure, with subtle yeasty notes and crisp acidity with balanced floral notes. 12% - 2014.
Collalto Extra Dry Prosecco (75cl): From one of the oldest and most influential wine making estates, in the iconic Italian province of Treviso, the Collalto family present their extra dry Prosecco. Expertly produced by a family with centuries of experience, this Prosecco is the sparkling white wine to cement your status as the perfect brunch host 11.5% -
Reds - Perfect all-year around, the reds we selected are light to medium bodied and exert spicy hints and fruity aromas. The Samael Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC is an incredible wine from organic Italian vineyards and goes perfectly with our salmon dishes. Solms Astor Langarm and the Lebanese Massaya Classic are both delectable examples of rich woody reds that lend themselves to slow roasted meats and our legendary mac n cheese.
Samael Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC (75cl): Adding this to our menu was a very easy decision. An expressive red and dark red fruit nose leads to a body of surprising density and delicious taste for a wide audience. This Poggio Anima beauty is from organic vineyards about 600m from the sea. 75cl - 13% - 2014
Solms Astor Langarm (75cl): A rich red that's aromatic, ripe and quite dense, with soft dark fruits, a touch of spice, and very mild smoke. From a fantastic sustainable Franschhoek property, founded in 1690 and now a third owned by its farm workers. 75cl - 14% - 2012
Massaya Classic (37.5cl): Bright ruby in colour, and a nose that has intertwined red and black fruits with a hint of spice and the aromas of sun-baked earth. The wine offer a really interesting talking point because of the rarity and style, its palate is warm, generous and full-bodied. 37.cl - 2012 - 14.5%
