Our Spicy Strawberry Summer Smoothie doesn’t just pack some heat…

Now, everyone loves a strawberry and banana smoothie, especially when the sun's out. But as we live in England where there aren’t always blue skies we thought we’d add our own heat to this delicious drink.

Here at EatFirst we’re totally obsessed with everything spicy; that’s why Chef Benn and the team have created this spicy strawberry smoothie for you to try at home.

Many studies have been done around the effects of ‘capsaicin’ on the human body. ‘Capsaicin’ - or a hot pepper as it’s known to you and I - has been shown to help the body resist disease. Not only this but studies have shown that they are also great for boosting your immune system and being able to fight infection. Clever little chillies.

This smoothie is the perfect 1 minute breakfast, post gym vitamin hit or simply as a refreshing drink.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

  • 2 x Banana

  • 7 x Strawberry (1 to serve)

  • 1/2 x Red Chilli

  • 2 sprigs of Mint

  • 1 bottle of EatFirst Orange Juice

  • 1 Handful of Ice

  • 1 inch piece of Ginger

Method:

  1. Peel the banana and the ginger.

  2. Chop the tops off the strawberries and the chilli.

  3. Wash the mint under cold water then place all in the blender.

  4. Blend on a high setting for 30 seconds or until you reach desired consistency.

  5. Serve with a wedge of strawberry and a eco friendly paper straw. Enjoy!
