Today’s world is increasingly moving towards everything being done at the touch of a button. The need go about doing your ‘chores’ is becoming less and less, you can now achieve everything without leaving the sofa (dreamy).
You can get your washing picked up and dropped off at your front door, and there’s no need to go into the bank anymore. It can all be done from an app on your phone and you don’t even need to ever step foot into a supermarket again if you don’t want to.
The Industry of Grocery Distribution predicts that the online supermarket sector will be the fastest growing sector over the next 4 years, closely followed by ‘Discount Supermarkets’ such as Lidl and Aldi.
Ocado is one of the biggest players in the online supermarket sector with over 580,000 active customers making 280,000 orders every week across the UK. Their motto is to ‘change the way the world shops and when you see the incredible technology that they hide in their warehouses you realise how they really are doing just that. It’s like the inside of a spaceship, and it’s hard not to believe that this is the future.
It’s also hard to ignore online giant Amazon’s recent expansion into groceries with Amazon Fresh. Are we seeing the beginning of a new supermarket cult?
