The Ultimate Valentine's Day Bolognese Recipe


Possibly the most romantic scene ever created in modern cinema is when lady and the tramp share the spaghetti bolognese over a candlelit dinner. For that reason and that reason alone, we believe that makes it the ultimate Valentine’s Day dinner.

This bolognese recipe was taught to Edo's by his grandmother back in Sardinia. She always told him it’s of paramount importance that you use the freshest ingredients in order to get the best taste.    


500g Beef Mince

1 x Carrot

2 x Celery Sticks

2 x White Onion

2 x Garlic Cloves

Handful of Parsley

1 tbs of Argei Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 tbs of Tomato Paste

1kg Natoora Sardinian Tomato Passata

Half a glass of Chianti Wine

4 cups of water

Salt & Pepper to Taste


  1. Brown the mince in a large pot then remove from the pan and set aside.

  2. Finely dice the carrots, celery and onion. Add oil to the same pan then fry the vegetables for 3 minutes.

  3. Add Parsley & Garlic to the pot and cook until lightly browned.

  4. Add back in the mince to the vegetables, loosen with red wine then reduce until its the consistency of soup.

  5. Add Tomato Paste, passata & water then bring to boil. Simmer for 1hr 30min (longer the better) until desired consistency is reached.

  6. Just before serving add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with Pappardelle Pasta and a full bodied glass of red wine for the ultimate Italian experience.
